Electrical Testing/Service Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Electrical Testing Engineer / Service Engineer with a robust background in testing, commissioning, and servicing electrical equipment, including LV and HV switchgear, RMUs, package substations, transformers, protection relays, and more. This role is critical in ensuring optimal functionality and safety of electrical systems through detailed testing and regular maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

Testing and Commissioning:

• Conduct testing and commissioning of electrical equipment such as:
  • LV and HV switchgear (up to 11kV)
  • Ring Main Units (RMUs)
  • Transformers
  • Protection relays
  • Current Transformers (CTs), Voltage Transformers (VTs), and Busbars
  • Vacuum Circuit Breakers (VCBs) and Air Circuit Breakers (ACBs)
  • 11kV & LV cables
• Use diagnostic equipment to assess equipment performance and verify safety standards.

Maintenance and Servicing:

• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on:
  • Switchgear, transformers, and RMUs
  • ACBs, VCBs, and associated control gear
  • Protection relays and their coordination settings
  • Battery banks, battery chargers, and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems
• Conduct servicing activities, including retrofitting, recalibration, and upgrades for ACBs, VCBs, and other components.

Inspection and Troubleshooting:

• Inspect electrical systems and components to identify and resolve performance issues or potential hazards.
• Troubleshoot electrical faults and malfunctions in equipment and systems, ensuring quick and effective resolution.

Documentation and Reporting:

• Document all testing, maintenance, and servicing activities in detailed reports.
• Provide analysis and recommendations for system improvements, repairs, or preventive actions.

Technical Support and Customer Service:

• Offer expert technical support and troubleshooting assistance to clients on equipment operation and maintenance.
• Conduct client training sessions on best practices for using and maintaining electrical systems.

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with industry standards and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical qualification.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years in electrical testing and servicing, with specific experience in LV and HV switchgear, protection relays, CTs, VTs, cables, transformers, UPS systems, and other related equipment.
• Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in using testing instruments (such as relay test kits, multimeters, megohmmeters, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of protection relays, switchgear mechanics, and transformer testing.
  • Knowledge of retrofitting, recalibration, and preventive maintenance.
• Problem-Solving Skills: Effective troubleshooting skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve issues.
• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for customer interaction and report writing.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in electrical testing and maintenance.
• Familiarity with specific equipment brands (e.g., ABB, Schneider, Siemens) is advantageous.
